HikePing stores the account details, emergency contacts, trip plans, and trip status information required to run the service.

When location permission is granted, HikePing stores the latest trip coordinates and lightweight location updates while the active trip page is open. HikePing does not implement hidden or always-on family tracking.

Public trip links are scoped to a single trip via a share token. They are designed for temporary sharing with chosen contacts or emergency use.

We do not position HikePing as a background surveillance product, and we do not sell trip data.
